Frequently Asked Questions

What impact will it have on our power bill by switching to energy efficient windows?

Since 1992, with help from ENERGY STAR®, American families and businesses saved $297 billion on utility bills and prevented more than 2.1 billion metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions by 2013. Every Pella® Product meets or exceeds ENERGY STAR certification in all 50 states and most of Canada. What impact will this have on you? Not only could you find a decline with your heating and cooling bill, you’ll also help protect the environment.

How much will my replacement door or replacement windows project cost?

Our windows and doors are specifically designed and made-to-order for your home, meaning no two projects are identical. Our wide variety of products make it difficult to discuss pricing without first understanding your needs and the project results you envision. Due to this nature, we find it useful to send out a Pella sales representative who can provide you with a quoted project price upon seeing the project site itself. To accelerate the quoting process, your Pella® sales representative is equipped with a computer and a portable printer so that they’ll have all the quote information you’ll need—once the sales representative has been given the opportunity to consider the requirements of the project and brings them to life with your vision.

In addition to offering a broad variety of high-grade products to choose from, we also have a generous offering of payment and finance options. Pella is uniquely-suited to offer you fantastic window and door products at affordable prices, providing you with a chance to make the renovations you want to while building great value into your Wilmington area home while you do it.

What should I use to clean my glass windows?

We recommend that you should use a prepackaged vinegar-based cleaning solution or use an ammonia-free glass cleaner such as Windex or Sparkle. You can also mix your own with one part vinegar to ten parts water. Put the solution on a soft, clean microfiber cloth or paper towel. Do not use glass cleaners that are ammonia- or alcohol-based as they have a tendency to produce streaks or create a film that attracts moisture and dust.

Do Pella® employees actually install your replacement windows and doors?

Pella uses contract installers who are certified to install Pella windows and doors. They are required to complete a carefully crafted set of training courses so that your windows and doors are correctly installed and meet Pella’s strict warranty guidelines. We find the best Wilmington-local people and recruit them to install our projects. Prior to beginning our relationship, Pella requires them to pass a drug test and background check. Our installers are fully covered by liability and workers compensation insurance. In addition to Pella product warranties, your installation is also covered for 10 years under the installation limited warranty and service agreement.

What's different about buying replacement windows and doors from local Pella® showrooms versus buying from retailers like Lowe’s?

Your Wilmington Pella branch offers services and support that “big box” stores can’t match. Our staff is made up of professionals whose expertise is in selling, installing, and servicing Pella Windows & Doors. Using a dedicated Pella sales team, project manager, local service technicians, and quality installers means that your project will have the strength of our whole team. We frequently use the term “single source accountability”, meaning that there’s no one to chase down regarding a product, installation, or warranty issue. If you have any concerns, simply contact our office or your sales representative and we will get to work resolving the issue.

Why is Pella® the right choice for my home?

There are several important reasons why Wilmington homeowners choose Pella for their replacement window and door needs. Pella was founded in 1925 and has remained privately-held the entire time. Each of our high quality windows and doors are manufactured with attention to detail and serviced by Pella’s qualified Direct Sales Network. Unlike most other window and door companies who sell exclusively through retailers, Pella has dedicated window and entry door design centers across the United States and Canada. This unique way of doing business gives the homeowners in Wilmington a convenient and personal experience with the assistance of a local to Wilmington, Pella-certified team. Whether you are considering the beauty of wood, the strength of fiberglass, or the low maintenance of vinyl—Pella has a high quality, energy efficient and durable solution.
